Outstanding Contributions to Mobility Earn Three Southern California Leaders Coveted Mobility 21 Awards for 2008

Nearly 500 government, business and civic leaders from across Southern California today joined together for the 7th Annual Southern California Transportation Summit hosted by Mobility 21, the region’s leading coalition dedicated to finding transportation solutions across five Southern California counties. This year’s event focused on strategies to help transit agencies and other groups address regional transportation priorities during the current economic and fiscal climate.
Marian Bergeson, the first woman to serve as both a California state Assembly member and a state Senator; Robert A. Wolf, former California Undersecretary of Business, Transportation and Housing and past chairman of the California Transportation Commission, and Mark Pisano, former executive director of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), today were honored with 2008 Mobility 21 Awards.
The coveted annual awards recognize individuals or organizations that have improved mobility through vision and leadership. |

The Sixth Annual Southern California Transportation Summit was held Monday, November 5, 2007, at the Ontario Convention Center. Mobility 21 hosted its first summit as a regional transportation advocacy group representing five Southern California counties. Dale E. Bonner, Secretary of the California Business, Transportation & Housing Authority, kicked off the sixth annual Mobility 21 Transportation Summit together with elected officials and business, transportation and community leaders representing the region's 17 million residents. Eric Haley, Executive Director of the Riverside Transportation Commission; Curt Pringle, Mayor of the City of Anaheim, and Larry Sharp, Chairman of the Inland Empire Transportation Coalition, were presented with awards for improving mobility through vision and leadership in their various regions. |

The Fifth Annual Mobility 21 Regional Transportation Summit agenda focused on how to solve Southern California's mobility challenges with the potential for robust funding from state and federal sources, while also embracing new technologies and public-private partnerships. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Automobile Club of Southern California, hosted the Mobility 21 transportation summit at the Sheraton Universal City on Oct. 30, 2006.

highway and freight corridor improvements. |
