WHAT:  

Southern California transportation and business leaders, including Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) and Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, will announce steps the region is taking to prevent permanent gridlock traffic. The press event will highlight Southern California’s much-needed investment in goods movement, the vital role of local funding, public-private partnerships and the need to invest in all modes of transportation. Leaders will call the public to action to voice their support of transportation improvements in Southern California.WHEN:

Population in Southern California continues to grow and at the same time political partisanship and fiscal challenges have left roads, highways, trains and bikeways stretched to capacity. Transportation leaders will discuss what Southern California is doing to prevent permanent Carmageddon-like traffic conditions and how the public can help to achieve the needed transportation improvements and investments.NOTE:
