AM 4: From the Ports to Your Front Porch: The Changing Landscape of Logistics

Magic Kingdom Ballroom 4

Sponsored by Jacobs

From food, goods and nearly everything in between – in 2010 over 1.5 billion tons of cargo valued at almost $2 trillion moved across the region’s transportation systems – an estimate only guaranteed to grow in the near future. Everything we purchase has an origin and destination with a number of steps in the process. The movement of goods thus requires a multimodal system utilizing our ports, highways, aviation and evolving technology. With the demand for more at a quicker pace, transportation and goods movement systems are moving to accommodate growth in the throughput. How do we remain competitive and support the region’s economic vitality, while meeting clean air standards and ensuring the best possible quality of life?
