2020 and 2021 saw unprecedented drops in transit ridership. As we forge ahead to get past the pandemic, the decline in ridership is still a formidable challenge. With a pressing need to meet state climate goals, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide equitable mobility solutions, how do we convince Southern Californians to give up their vehicles and utilize transit options? How can we make transit competitive, safe and equitable for all current and future users throughout our diverse region? Keynote Speaker

Sponsored by Southwest Carpenters Union and The Lane Construction Corporation

This year’s Summit theme “Future Forward” speaks to personal resiliency, overcoming the odds and transforming oneself and in turn our ‘team’ and communities for a better future. Joining us is NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back, Los Angeles Rams, Eric Dickerson who will share his personal experiences as we look to inspire each other and create a better California together.

Eric Dickerson
NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back, Los Angeles Rams

Eric Dickerson was selected second overall in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. An immediate success, he established rookie records for most rushing attempts (390), most rushing yards gained (1,808) and most touchdowns rushing (18), including another two receiving touchdowns. His efforts earned him All-Pro, Pro Bowl, Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.

In his second season, Eric continued his onslaught on the NFL record book becoming a member of the 2,000 rushing yards club. Twelve times in 1984 he gained more than 100 yards rushing, breaking the record of 100-yard games in a season held by O.J. Simpson. His 2,105 total yards rushing beat Simpson’s 1973 NFL season record of 2,003 yards. No one has since rushed for more yards in a single NFL season. Eric retired from the NFL as the second leading rusher of all-time and in 1999 he was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Eric was inducted into the College Hall of Fame for Southern Methodist University last year.

Eric currently works for the Los Angeles Rams & iHeart Radio.

PM 1: Finding A Way Forward: Local, State and Federal Imperatives

Sponsored by TYLin

Bios

Magic Kingdom 1

Safe travel for our communities as they go each day from point A to point B, diligent stewardship of our environment, and designing and implementing effective mobility options, while finding the money from local, state and federal sources. The punch list for our local and regional transportation agencies can be a never-ending, demanding responsibility. And then let’s throw an on-going pandemic for nearly 2.5 years, making the way forward seem that much more difficult to envision. Yet, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and our regional transportation agencies are working tirelessly to find a way forward to elevate and make substantive improvements to California’s transportation infrastructure. Our transportation leaders will convene to discuss the difficulties they encounter and the solutions they are developing to help find a positive way forward for Southern California.

Equity and mental health are key areas where companies have much work to do better. Office footprints continue to shrink. Join our panel of experts as they discuss how they are keeping equity at the forefront and look to rebuild our workforce and turn culture shock into success.
