Olympic Marathon Runner

Fireside Chat with Mobility 21 Chair, Aaron Hake, Executive Director, Riverside County Transportation Commission

Meb Keflezighi is the only runner in history to have won the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, and an Olympic medal. In 2009, Keflezighi became the first American since 1982 to win the New York City Marathon. He finished in the top 10 in New York eight times and was the top American seven times. In 2015, he set a TCS New York City Marathon masters event record of 2:13:32.

In 2014, Keflezighi won the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American man to do so since 1983. The win, in a personal-best 2:08:37, lengthened the 2004 Olympic marathon silver medalist’s stay at the top of the U.S. ranks. He placed fourth in the London 2012 Olympic marathon. Keflezighi raced his 26th and final career marathon at the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon, running as an NYRR Team for Kids Ambassador.

Born in Eritrea, Keflezighi became a U.S. citizen in 1998 and won four NCAA titles while at UCLA. He set a 10,000-meter national record of 27:13.98 in 2001 that stood for nine years.

Valet vouchers will be provided at registration for those assigned to valet. Overnight hotel guests are subject to a self-parking fee of $40, or $70 for valet.

Transit

Avoid parking and take public transit to the Summit! Mobility 21 is proud to partner with Metrolink and Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN) again this year to offer complimentary Metrolink and ART Bus roundtrip service from the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC Anaheim Station) to the Summit!
Upon arrival at the Anaheim Station (ARTIC) on Friday, Sept. 12, head towards Bay 8 and request your ART Bus to the Disneyland Hotel. To make a ride request, scan the QR code on the Mobility 21 x ART Bus signage and fill out the required information. Please follow the same instructions for the return ride from the hotel; pick-up is in front of the bus lane. Look for the ART Bus with ‘SPECIAL’ displayed on the head sign on the front of the bus. No purchase necessary – simply use your 2025 Summit registration ticket (either electronic or printed) as your ART and Metrolink fare between the two destinations.

Disney Twilight tickets are NOT available. Per the Disneyland Resort, these pro-rated evening-only tickets are not available to conference-goers at this time. Mobility 21 will provide $50 Disney vouchers for each full Summit registrant, available for pick-up by the attendee at 4:00 PM after the Summit with valid ID and matching name badge. Qualifying attendees may use this towards the purchase of a theme park ticket or use at Disney retail stores and restaurants. Exhibitor-Only, Student and Military Personnel ticket types do not include a Disney voucher. Please be advised that Disney has a theme park reservation process.

Acceptance of the Disney voucher may be reportable, valued at $50.
